I am a new comer to GSC/OVIS and glad to submit my first trophies, of I hope many, toward OVIS and Capra slams. In December 2003 I hunted with Bruno Rosich of Hunt Trip Spain. We hunted for 6 days and I have the highest regard for my Professional Hunter Bruno Rosich who was completely focused on insuring my success. We started our hunt in the Beceite Mountains which were rugged and beautiful. The view from the tops was fantastic, olive and almond trees on one side and the ocean on the other.

We spotted many Ibex but did not find the one we were looking for until the near end of the day. The wind caused us to make a blind stalk around the back of a rugged mountain to a spot 250 yards from the group of 4 ewes and a nice Ibex trophy. All 5 Ibex spotted us and were very spooky but a quick offhand shot anchored my trophy; he scored 71 SCI with 26” horns with 9” bases.

That night we celebrated at our hotel which was an 18 century castle that was quite unique. My wife and I enjoyed fine local wines and superb dining with our PH Bruno. The following day we drove across Spin to the Pyrenees Mountains to hunt for Chamois. My wife and I really enjoyed the scenic drive as it gave us a chance to experience the small town charm of Spain. In the Pyrenees we stayed in a quaint Alpine chalet; it was a family run business with three generations running the hotel and restaurant.

The following two days our hunting efforts were plagued with poor weather conditions in the Pyrenees. Snow, high winds and cloud cover made the hunting very difficult. Since the weather forecast called for more snow my PH Bruno offered me a chance to change my hunt from Chamois to Fallow or Mouflon. We hunted on the Rosich private estate and I took a silver medal Mouflon and Fallow.

That evening we celebrated New Years Eve with my PH family enjoying a home cooked feast of wild game and local wines. Celebrating New Years with new friends and a successful hunt was the most memorable experience of my trip to Spain.
